Lace is the defining fabric of the modern takchita. Placed over a satin, crepe or silk cloth tahtiya, it reveals hints of the color underneath and plays with the light with every movement. Beaded, embroidered with gold thread, embellished with rhinestones or left plain, it takes on a completely different character depending on the finish. It is also the lightest fabric to wear for a long evening.

Beaded, Embroidered or Plain Lace

Hand-beaded lace, with its pearls and sequins sewn on one by one, is the most formal: it is suitable for the bride and close guests. Thread-embroidered lace is more understated and can be worn from a henna ceremony to a baptism. Plain lace, often used as an open fouqia over plain satin, creates a clean, contemporary silhouette. In every case, the color of the underdress determines the result: tone-on-tone for softness, contrast for impact.

It requires care: avoid rubbing it against a bag or rough belt, have it dry-cleaned by a specialist, and store it flat or on a wide hanger under a garment cover. When properly cared for, it will last for years.

Which belt should be worn with a lace takchita?

A thin mdamma if the lace is beaded, to avoid overloading the look; a wider jeweled belt if the lace is plain and the silhouette needs definition.
