Cornely embroidery

Cornely embroidery is a hand-crafted mechanical embroidery technique, performed using a specific machine invented in 1865 by the French engineer Émile Cornely. This machine was designed to imitate the Beauvais stitch, a hand-made chain stitch, allowing for precise and fluid mechanical reproduction. Cornely embroidery is a hand-crafted embroidery done manually using a Cornely machine. The particularity of this machine lies in its hand-guided system: the craftsman uses a handle located under the machine to direct the needle, following the pattern previously traced on the fabric. This method, called "hand-guided," offers great freedom of movement and allows for the creation of complex designs with great precision.

digital embroidery

Digital embroidery, or computer-assisted embroidery (CAD), is a modern technique that uses an embroidery machine controlled by computer software to create precise and reproducible designs on fabric. It allows for a wide choice of designs and stitches (satin stitch, filling stitch, etc.) as well as high precision and consistency of stitches.

SFIFA

The Moroccan caftan is distinguished by the sfifa, an iconic element that adorns its edges. A true artisanal signature, it gives the caftan its unique and refined character.

The sfifa is made from silk threads of different colors, meticulously woven to create a variety of patterns. The choice of threads is always made in harmony with the shade of the fabric, in order to enhance each piece with refinement.

Aqaads, braiding, and sfifa

Each dress has its own buttons and trimmings, carefully chosen to perfectly match the colors and fabrics of the caftan. The braiding bordering the sfifa is precisely coordinated, while each button is handcrafted one by one, according to an ancestral technique passed down from generation to generation. The sfifa, too, is custom-made for each model. These fundamental elements, crafted down to the smallest detail, are the signature of the Moroccan caftan's authenticity and elegance.
