White takchita

White Takchita: the Bride’s Outfit for Weddings and Grand Ceremonies

White is the color Moroccan brides wear when they make their entrance on the amaria, before changing outfits. A white takchita consists of an underdress (tahtiya) and an open dress (fouqia) that reveals the first layer; the belt (mdamma) defines the waist. On white, everything is visible: the quality of the lace, the regularity of the sfifa, and the fineness of the beads. It is the color that forgives nothing, and the one that best showcases our artisans’ work.

White, Ivory, or Ecru

Pure white brightens medium and tanned skin tones. Ivory and ecru soften fair complexions and pair more easily with gold. On the same design, the effect changes depending on the fabric: silk satin reflects the light, lace filters it, and chiffon softens it. Look closely at the photos before choosing, and feel free to write to us for advice.

For Which Occasion

  • Weddings: the bride’s entrance, nikah, hlel, and civil weddings
  • Engagements and khotba, when the bride-to-be wants a light-colored outfit
  • Christenings and circumcisions, for the mother or grandmother
  • Guests: avoid it if the bride is wearing white, unless she agrees

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a guest wear a white takchita?

The rule is simple: white belongs to the bride on her wedding day. As a guest, save it for the henna ceremony or engagement, or choose ivory or blush beige so as not to compete with her.

How do you keep a white takchita pristine?

Dry-cleaning only, through a professional who is familiar with embroidered garments. Store it in its garment bag away from light to prevent the white from yellowing.

Which belt goes with a white takchita?

A gold or silver mdamma, depending on the color of the sfifa. With a heavily embroidered takchita, a matching fabric belt is enough; with a more minimalist design, a jeweled belt completes the entire silhouette.
